PacMutual, formerly known as the Pacific Mutual Building, is a campus of three interconnected buildings constructed over a twenty-year period. The six-story Clock Building was built in 1908, originally designed as a Beaux Arts building a major renovation in 1936 to incorporate first-floor retail space required a new exterior design, which was executed in a plain Moderne architectural style. The Sentry building, a twelve-story Beaux Arts building was added in 1921 and features a grand lobby with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and sweeping staircases in Italian marble. In 1926, the Carriage House was added to the campus, a three-story Beaux Arts building with parking on the first floor and office space above. PacMutual is a recognized landmark by the City of Los Angeles and has become a popular filming site for movies and television shows.
The Work
Ivanhoe Cambridge approached Accurate Space, Inc. to review their existing BOMA 1996 area measurements. During our initial site visit it became apparent the existing plans did not reflect existing conditions. With limited original documents to rely upon, our staff began an extensive field survey of the building. Accurate Space, Inc. was tasked with producing a full set of as-built drawings and producing a detailed BOMA 2010 area analysis.
The Results
Rentable Area Net Gain: 18,928 SF
